For Educators

The Lands offers an engaging educational environment that cannot be experienced in a traditional classroom. Here at the farm, students work side-by-side with educators and “co-faculty” farm animals to learn about science, agriculture, ecology, history, nutrition, animal husbandry, land conservation, sustainable living and community service. Students also have the opportunity to observe diversities to enhance their educational experiences. Our goal is to make the lessons and experiences stick long after the students have left the farm so in turn can teach by example.

The Lands offers several curriculum-based farm programs, all which meet Pennsylvania Academic Standards, for grades K though 12.

Farm Camp

Summer is an exciting time here at the Farm. The grounds are just buzzing with life and everywhere you look seems to offer a new opportunity for learning and enjoyment. At our Farm Camps, children have the chance to become engaged with the farm on a much deeper level. Campers will work alongside staff members, assisting with chores relevant to the operation of the farm. Each session also includes crafts, vegetable planting and harvesting, hiking, games and more. Our hope is that campers’ on-the-farm experiences translate into a better understanding of the natural world which we are all connected to and dependent upon for nourishment. The power of coaxing fresh milk from a goat or cow or enjoying a hike in the woods cannot be denied. Come join the celebration of life on the farm this summer!
