DAIRY HERDSMAN OR HERDSWOMAN
The Lands at Hillside Farms, a non-profit educational dairy farm located in northeastern Pennsylvania, seeks experienced dairy herdsman or herdswoman. Must have ability to work well with co-workers from various departments as well as interact with the general public, a desire to fully implement a grass-based rotational grazing model, willingness to participate in educational programs including 4-H. Responsibilities include herd health, working with veterinarians, administering basic medicine, working with nutritionists to develop feed program, assisting with all aspects of feeding and feed production/field work, maintaining herd records, heat detection, and milking. Additional responsibilities include organizing and cleaning facilities, operating skid steer and tractors, caring for calves and heifers. The farm’s current desire is to milk 40 head of multiple breeds with the possibility for increased herd size. Competitive salary. HILLSIDE MERCANTILE CASHIER/CUSTOMER SERVICE: F/PT
The Lands At Hillside Farms’ Mercantile Store is looking for positive and energetic customer service/ cashiers to assist clients in-store and outside garden center area. Applicant must absolutely have a flexible schedule and the ability work weekends.
JOB DETAILS: The selected customer service cashier will hold a positive lasting impression for customers shopping experience. Hillside Farms has a reputation of quality products and this will extend to our Hillside Mercantile workers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job responsibilities will include handling and counting cash and financing transactions, assisting customers during the buying and checkout process. Additionally, accepted applicants will work to maintain an attractive and clean display and retail area inside and out while ensuring positive company image through friendly and efficient customer service.
Specific Responsibilities:
* Ensuring the customer receives the highest quality service.
* Accept new merchandise orders, unpacking, pricing and placement.
* Assist in seasonal retail set-up and break-down.
* Keeping all areas impeccable inside and out, sweeping floors, cleaning merchandise and maintaining a dust-free environment.
* Answering phone calls and emails with company consistent etiquette.
* Opening/closing store with proper procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Computer experience (Point of Sale experience is a plus).
* Efficiency in computer skills, Microsoft and e-mailing.
* Past Experience with Customer Service and/or Retail Sales
* Flexible Schedule – days, evenings, weekends, particularly during peak retail seasons.
* Willingness to work and grow business with a team concept.
* Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions and procedures.
* Ability to sell and explain products proactively, compiled with excellent customer service.
* A desire to learn and be able to explain USA-made products and extended knowledge to assist in plant product purchases and other natural lifestyle products.
* Effective time management skills and the ability to multitask.
* Stand and walk for extended periods of time, walk steps and carry boxes for retail product storage.

SUMMER FARM CAMP COUNSELORS
The Lands At Hillside Farms is looking for College & post College level Farm Camp Counselors to assist with the 2012 Hillside Farm Camp from June 18th – Aug 3rd , 2012. Applicants must have a love for kids and animals, past experience with education and/or summer camp is a must. Background check is required on all applicants. Hillside Farm Camp is a day camp, counselor hours will be from 8:30 – 4:00 daily. Opportunities are available to work on a week to week basis or for the entire summer (hours are not flexible).
