Join us for an afternoon of warmth and learning at our gentle sheep shearing event! We demonstrate the art and necessity of sheep shearing, an important aspect of sheep health and hygiene. Suitable for guests of all ages, this event offers a unique opportunity to understand the full cycle of wool production - from shearing to spinning to products. Our commitment to farm animal welfare shines through this gentle and respectful process, ensuring our sheep are comfortable and stress-free throughout.
Celebrate Dairy Day

Help us celebrate National Dairy Day in the Coach Barn with dairy-themed activities for all ages, including Dairy Trivia, Farm Animal Trivia, an Animal Meet & Greet, and a few dairy surprises as we celebrate the cows, the farmers, and the important role dairy farms play in our community.

Historic Camp at Spring Brook Farm

Location: Spring Brook Farm (located on Hillside Road, one mile from Hillside's Dairy Store)
Join period actors and experts to experience life during the Revolutionary War period. Learn how citizens dressed, prepared meals, hunted, protected their families and themselves. See live fire of Revolutionary-style Muzzleloaders. Be sure to ask what type of jobs did individuals hold? Did women work outside the home? What about school for children? This is a weekend filled with historic facts and folklore!
24th Connecticut Militia Regiment & Camp
Date: October 3 & October 4

Location: Victorian Garden (located behind the Greenhouse)
The 24th Connecticut Militia Regiment is a living history organization that demonstrates fascinating ways of life during the Revolutionary War period of American history. Witness accurate portrayals of soldiers and common people of the Wyoming Valley. Learn about carpentry, medicine, cooking, tailoring, and much more.
Christmas in the Barns

Tickets will be available at the Pavilion on Saturday, November 21, beginning at 9AM.
There are 300 tickets allocated for each event. Tickets are limited to SIX per family.
Throughout the year we may get creative and schedule a pop-up event or two! You can be sure we will do a shout-out on social media and at the Dairy Store.

A Very Special Camper With Four Legs Comes To The Farm
Our Summer Farm Camp welcomed special guests this week as Kingston Township Police Officers Jeffrey Carter and Robert Vojtko visited Hillside Farms to talk with campers about community safety.
Along for the visit was Police K-9 Dilly, whose friendly personality quickly won over our campers. But this visit wasn't just about meeting an incredible police dog, it was about witnessing the remarkable partnership between Dilly and Officers Jeffrey Carter and Robert Vojtko.
Together, they answered questions, shared stories, and helped children better understand the important role police officers and their K-9 partners play in keeping our community safe.
Campers learned that Dilly has two very important jobs. As a narcotics detection dog and human tracking K-9, her remarkable sense of smell helps officers locate illegal drugs, find missing people, and track suspects. "Her incredible sense of smell allows her to do things people simply can't," Officer Carter explained.
Working as a police K-9 takes months of specialized training, and the learning never stops. Dilly and Officer Carter continue to train together every month to maintain their certification and strengthen the partnership that keeps them ready to serve the community.
Many were surprised to learn that Dilly isn't just good at her job, she genuinely loves it.
"To Dilly, searching is like playing her favorite game," Officer Carter shared. "Every successful search ends with her favorite reward ... a tennis ball."
When the workday is over, Dilly enjoys life just like any other family dog, relaxing at home, sleeping on her back with all four paws in the air, and eagerly spinning in circles whenever she sees Officer Carter putting on his police gear because she knows it's time to head to work.
After learning about police work, campers climbed aboard a wagon ride through Hillside's pastures with Officers Carter, Vojtko, and Dilly, where one hardworking police K-9 enjoyed a well-earned visit with the herd.
Before leaving, Officer Carter shared a simple but powerful message for our campers:
"Work hard in school, always be honest, treat people with kindness and respect, and never stop learning. If you love helping others and enjoy working with animals, you can achieve your dream with dedication and hard work."
Thank you to the officers from Kingston Township Police Department for spending the morning with our campers and for the work you do every day to keep our community safe.
Dilly will return to Hillside Farms on August 19, 2026, beginning at 5 PM, for Ice Cream with a Cop, where she'll be joined by Officers Carter and Vojtko. Be sure to stop by to meet Dilly and pick up K-9 trading cards, coloring pages, stickers, wristbands, and if everything goes according to plan brand-new K-9 Dilly temporary tattoos!
